Media Links
By Wendy Herman, TCOT Project Servant Leader (with lots of help from @readmylipstick and @politisite)
These are links to local media outlets in both Maine and Pennsylvania.
History teaches us that Arlen Specter rarely changes his mind once he
sells out conservative ideals, but we included Pennslvania for fun.
Instead, we'd like to focus as much as possible on Maine. Collins
wavered a bit on Fox today suggesting that she might night vote for
the bill if it comes back from conference with too much pork
(whatever!). Snow has avoided most microphones, which may mean she is
vulnerable.
Call local radio in Maine. Write local newspapers. Ask them to put
pressure on their Senators. Use specifics that are in the bill. Do not
be afraid to shame these senators. Sample scripts are below. Feel free
to adapt them to better voice your opinions.
Thanks.

Sample Letter to the Editor:
Dear Editor:
I am profoundly unhappy with Senators Collins and Snowe's deliberate
sell-out of the American people by agreeing to compromise on the $800
billion stimulus package (S. 1). Some how these two think that carving
a mere $100 billion out of the package will make us all think they are
being fiscally responsible--like we just might forget the remaining
$800 billion wasn't going to fund things like swimming pools, frisbee
parks and redecorating government offices. Senator Collins appeared on
Fox news on Saturday, February 7th, and stated that this compromise
bill would put money in our weekly paycheck. I would like to know HOW?
What provision of this bill give me more money in my pay envelope? We
don't know because she has refused to publish the compromise bill thus
far. She also stated that she would be willing to vote no on this bill
if it came back from conference with too much pork attached. Senator
Snowe is in hiding, apparently very "proud" of her decision to betray
our trust in her. I would like to ask you to encourage both these
Senators to change their minds once again and vote against this
terrible piece of legislation. It cannot be fixed, it is too bloated.
It must be killed and then the process can be started over. There is a
group on the internet that I am a part of called Top Conservatives On
Twitter. Twitter is a micro-blogging site and over 2500 conservatives
from all over the nation have banded together to try and de-rail this
out of control bill. There are many things I don't like about this
bill, but my least favorite are :
1. (fill these in with your favorites. Include specific expenditures,
the hurried pace of the process, the lack of transparency, etc.)
2.
3.
I have written and call both Senators offices and am asking you to use
your considerable influence to encourage Senators Snowe and Collins to
abandon whatever agreement they have with the Democrats and vote NO on
this bill.
Thank you,

Radio Talking Points:
Pick one of the following to ask the host about:
1. Senator Collins was on Fox on Sat. Feb 7th and said this
compromise bill would put more money in our paychecks. How?
2. Does Senator Collins and Senator Snowe really want their legacy to
be voting "yes" to socialism?
3. Would it be better for us as individuals to have this bloated
spending bill or half our withholding back in our pockets as Michael
Patrick Leahy has suggested in his alternative stimulus plan?
